GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Senior Erin Wysocki paced the University of North Dakota women's cross country team on Saturday afternoon at the UND Ron Pynn Classic.
Wysocki, a native of Grand Forks, N.D., led UND with a time of 18 minutes, 8.25 seconds, good enough for a fourth-place finish at Ray Richards Golf Course. Lydia Lutz (Park Rapids, Minn.) and Jessica Lynch (Cologne, Minn.) rounded out North Dakota's top-three finishers, with times of 18:29.99 and 18:38.35, respectively.
“We approached this week as a real hard practice race,” head coach Dick Clay said after the meet. “We tried to go a little bit more controlled in this race with conference [championships] coming up.”
North Dakota State's Erin Teschuk took first place, with a time of 17:19.22, to help the Bison finish first.
UND's Anna Gessell (Brainerd, Minn.) and Martha Hubbell (West St. Paul, Minn.) also finished in the top-10. Gessell ran a time of 18:45.87, while Hubbell recorded a time of 18:51.11.
North Dakota will look towards the Big Sky Conference Championships in two weeks, which it will host at Ray Richards Golf Course.
“Overall, our goal is to just hopefully improve from last year, and maintain a spot or move up a spot or two,” Clay said about the upcoming meet. “Being at home is going to help, just because you have people here, and people get excited, and that is the meet we want to get excited at.”
The women's Big Sky Championship race will begin at 1:45 p.m. (CT) on Nov. 1.
