UND takes on Portland State

This weekend
North Dakota takes on Big Sky Conference foe Portland State this weekend, March 28-29, for a three-game series in Portland, Ore. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday, starting at 2 p.m. (CT) and a single game on Saturday at 3 p.m. (CT).

Last time out
UND went out to California for a single game against St. Mary's, March 20, before opening Big Sky action against Sacramento State in a three-game series on March 21-22.

In the first game of the trip, North Dakota lose to St. Mary's by a score of 8-0. UND then followed it up with a pair of closely contested games against the Hornets, but failed to get a win dropping both games of the doubleheader, 6-3 and 5-1. On the final day, the Hornets powered past UND 9-0 to close out the series.

Emily Bell led UND over the four-game span, batting .500 with five hits, including two doubles. Caralyn Chewning recorded three RBI over the weekend and was second in batting for UND with a .417 average.

Kaylin VanDomelen started in three of the four games for North Dakota, pitching a total of 12 innings. She recorded six strikeouts over the weekend.

Leading at the plate
After going 5-for-10 at the plate over the March 20-22 weekend, Emily Bell now leads North Dakota with a .375 batting average. She is tied with Amanda Johnson for most hits on the team with 15. Bell also leads UND with four doubles on the year.

Swinging for the fence
Senior Amanda Johnson leads UND with three home runs. In 49 at-bats, Johnson has recorded 15 hits (.306), and four RBI. She also leads UND with 25 total bases and a .510 slugging percentage.

In the circle
Freshman Kaylin VanDomelen picked up her first collegiate win, going the distance against UC Davis in a 9-4 win on March 16. On the season VanDomelen has thrown 37.1 innings and has recorded a 8.25 ERA with a 174 record. She has also thrown 25 strike outs this year.

Fellow freshman pitcher Megan Hedstrom has pitched the most out of the UND bullpen, throwing for 46 innings so far this year. Hedstrom has an 0-9 record with an 8.37 ERA.
