GRAND FORKS, N.D— Texas Tech hit .327 en route to a 25-20, 25-18, 25-22 win over host North Dakota Saturday evening at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center in non-conference play. UND's Faith Dooley had 14 kills while Tamara Merseli and Chelsea Moser each added eight kills for the Fighting Hawks.

“In the first and third set, we definitely started slow,” UND head coach Mark Pryor said. “Offensively, they weren't able to stop us in stretches, but we just shot ourselves in the foot with dumb errors. We've got to do a better job with that. I've got a feeling we'll get that corrected in the next couple weeks as we head into conference season.

All three sets were battles as the first set featured five tie scores and two lead changes. That final lead change came when Texas Tech (4-2) ripped off an 8-2 spurt to grab a 17-13 edge. From there, TTU was able to pull out a 25-20 win in the opener. 

In set two, the Red Raiders jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead but it was immediately met with North Dakota responding to make it 7-6 on Tamika Brekke's service ace. That would be the closest that middle set would get, however, with Texas Tech claiming a 25-18 victory and heading into intermission with a 2-0 lead in the match. 

UND held the early lead in the third with Dooley collecting one of her team-high 14 kills for a 6-5 advantage. Another kill from Dooley got it back to a single point with the Raiders leading 18-17. Moser would make help UND stave off a match point at 24-21 but Lauren Douglas closed the match with her game-high 15th kill of the evening. 

Sydney Griffin chipped in 36 assists for the Fighting Hawks while Alivia Fraase and Merseli added 11 and 10 digs, respectively. 

North Dakota takes to the road for its next nine matches, beginning with Wednesday tilts at Jacksonville State and against Alcorn State.
