GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Senior Quinton Hooker led six Fighting Hawks in double figures with 23 points as North Dakota routed Southern Utah 95-65 Saturday in Big Sky play.

Sophomore Josh Collins, who earned his first career start in place of an injured Drick Bernstine, chipped in with career-highs in points (11) and rebounds (7) to help UND (8-6, 3-1 BSC) to its third straight win.

UND would end up shooting 53 percent from the floor, while holding the Thunderbirds (4-12, 2-1 BSC) to just a season-low 25.9 percent effort. The Fighting Hawks also held the league's top scorer Randy Onwuasor to 19 points on a 6-for-19 effort from the field.

"We set the tone on the defensive end," UND head coach Brian Jones said. "That's two games in a row now where we've held opponents to a low field goal percentage and our guys came out with high energy and finished off possessions."

Onwuasor's teammates combined to make just seven other field goals in the contest as the visitors never led.

Sophomore Geno Crandall added 13 points and a career-high nine assists. Both he and Hooker had 11 first-half points to help the home team build a 43-25 lead at the break.

The T-Birds went just 5-for-25 from the field in the first half and a 10-minute field goal drought allowed UND to stretch its lead from 11-10 to 38-21.

UND finished with 23 assists on 35 made field goals with Hoooker adding six of those. He also helped the Fighting Hawks own a 46-38 edge on the glass with a season-high seven rebounds.

Hooker's classmate Corey Baldwin made it three straight games in double figures as he scored 14 points and drilled a season-best four 3-pointers. Baldwin also added six rebounds.

Sophomore Conner Avants finished with 10 points as all five UND starters reached double figures. Freshman Kienan Walter matched that total off the bench to finish with a career-high effort on a 4-for-4 effort from the field.

UND will return to the road next week for the Big Sky's Treasure State swing starting at Montana State on Thursday at 8 p.m. CT.
