PHOENIX, Ariz. - The University of North Dakota men's tennis team was defeated by the Arizona Christian Firestorm, 5-2, Sunday morning in Phoenix.
The Firestorm started out the dual on top by sweeping North Dakota in doubles play. The No. 1 doubles match went to a tiebreaker, but unfortunately Enzo Douillac and Jesse Miritello were able to top Lukas Buth and Daniel Martinez 10-5.
In singles play, Buth and Martinez were the two Fighting Hawks to earn point each on the day and get redemption from a close doubles match. In No. 1 singles, Buth topped Enzo Douillac 6-3, 6-4, while Daniel Martinez defeated Jesse Miritello 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) in No. 3 singles play.
The Fighting Hawks will get back into action at home on Friday at noon at Choice Health & Fitness in Grand Forks.
