Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of North Dakota men's tennis team fell, 5-2, to Lipscomb on Saturday night in Nashville in the second of three straight contests this weekend.
UND (3-2) saw its three-match winning streak come to an end with the loss, but still remain above the .500 mark after five matches this season.
In doubles play, the Bisons claimed the opening match on the top court, 6-4, before the pairing of
Davide Callegari and Johnnie Carmichael even the two-man play at one with a 7-6 victory at the middle position. Lipscomb was able to secure a 7-6 triumph of its own on the No. 3 court to capture the doubles point and take an early 1-0 lead.
Lukas Buth earned another win in singles play from the No. 2 position, rolling to 6-4 and 6-2 scores while Carmichael battled back after dropping the first set, 6-4, for a 6-4 win of his own and a 6-0 drubbing in the tiebreaker at the third court for the pair of singles victories for the Fighting Hawks.
Lipscomb was able to hold off North Dakota in straight sets on the No. 1, 4, 5, and 6 courts to pick up the match victory by a 5-2 score.
UND returns to action tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with a showdown against Chattanooga to close out the weekend road trip in Tennessee.
