Vrede granted another year of Division I eligibility

Netherlands product wins appeal and will be a senior in 2019

GRAND FORKS, N.D.—University of North Dakota head football coach Bubba Schweigert announced Tuesday that Tyron Vrede has won an appeal and has been granted another year of eligibility to return for a senior season in 2019.

"Tyron represents UND football in a positive manner both on and off the field," UND head football coach Bubba Schweigert said. "We're pleased with the NCAA's decision to grant him his final year of eligibility. He is what a student-athlete is all about. He'll be a key part of what we do next season and we're excited he's able to fulfill his wishes of continuing to make an impact on our football team."

Vrede, a 6-foot linebacker, played in all 11 games last year in his first season as a Fighting Hawk. He generated 6.0 tackles for loss, including a pair of sacks, part of 23 total stops.
