NEWTON, Kan.-- Sophomore
Ashlyn Guggisberg fired a third-round 75 to pace North Dakota on the final day of the 2019 Summit League Championships at Sand Creek Golf Course. She carded an eagle and a pair of birdies in the cold, blustery weather Tuesday as UND moved up to finish in sixth place as a team.
Guggisberg was one of just four golfers to etch an eagle at the 54-event with her 3 on the 521-yard par 5. Senior
Jenna Janu wrapped her impressive career and wound up tied for 14th individually after a final-round 80 to go along with her 79 and 80 in the first and second rounds, respectively. Guggisberg's Tuesday round vaulted her into 23rd place while
Hanna Peterson shot 81 Tuesday to tie for 26th.
Abby Schramel was the final scorer for UND with her final-round 80 as North Dakota improved each round and shaved off 13 strokes from the opening 18 to the final round.
Denver, behind the strength of a final round 65 by Mary Weinstein, went seven-under Tuesday and ran away with the team title. North Dakota concludes its season.
