GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota head soccer coach
Chris Logan announced the appointment of Stuart Gore to Associate Head Coach ahead of the 2020-21 spring season. Gore, who led Northwestern Ohio to a national championship in 2016, brings more than 15 years of collegiate and professional coaching experience.
"Going through this process, we were really looking for someone who could come into our environment and make an impact with both on-field coaching and off the field with our student-athletes," said Logan. "With Stuart Gore, we have someone who has won a national championship as a head coach and also cherishes growing student-athletes both personally and academically. Stu is a tremendous hire for our program, and we are excited to welcome him to UND."
Gore most recently spent two seasons as Associate Head Coach at James Madison, helping the Dukes to a Colonial Athletic Conference Championship in 2018. JMU advanced to two CAA Tournament Finals during his time in Harrisonburg and had nine student-athletes earn All-CAA honors.
He previously spent five seasons at the University of Northwestern Ohio, leading the Racers to a national championship in 2016 and a .851 win percentage (100-15-6) from 2013-17. Along with a 23-2-1 record during the national championship season, Gore led UNOH to two NAIA Tournament Semifinal appearances (2015, 2017), another NAIA National Championship appearance (2014), and four 20-win seasons.
During his tenure, Gore led 23 Racers to All-America honors and coached three national players of the year, a national defensive player of the year, and two national scholar-athletes. He was named NAIA's National Women's Coach of the Year in 2016 and NAIA Mideast Region Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2016, in addition to his conference coach of the year honors.
Gore also made collegiate coaching stops at Rider University and the University of Delaware as a men's team assistant coach. As a club coach, he was a head coach or director of coaching with AC Diablos and Washington United Soccer Club. Gore also coached professionally in the WPSL as an assistant coach with the Philadelphia Independence and head coach with the Philadelphia Fever.
He started coaching in the professional ranks with C.F. Lorca Deportiva in Spain as Academy Head Coach after finishing his professional career with UD Lorca in the Spanish Segunda Division.
Gore's playing career began at the youth level of Premier League side Leeds United from 1996-2000, helping The Peacocks to a FA Youth Cup Championship in 1997 over Crystal Palace. Gore represented England at the Youth National Team at the U14, U15, U16, U17, and U18 levels before beginning his collegiate career at the University of Montevallo, where he twice earned all-conference honors.
