GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- University of North Dakota head tennis coach Tom Boysen announced on Thursday the signing of two prospective student-athletes to National Letters of Intent (NLI) for the 2022-23 season.

The pair of commitments, Jayho Hong on the men's team and Jule Schulte on the women's squad, are the first under first-year coach Boysen for the Fighting Hawks.

Finished with a 24-3 overall record this season ... Helped his team finish second at the Class AA state tournament in 2021 ... Also reached the state tournament in singles play.

BOYSEN ON HONG
"Jayho is someone who Associate Head Coach Kyle Anderson had been recruiting even before I got to UND. After seeing Jayho play at our Nationals in August and speaking with him before and during his official visit, we became convinced that he would be a great fit in our program. Jayho's tennis has been trending up, and I'm convinced his best level is ahead of him. Additionally, his outstanding character and work ethic will no doubt be assets to the team during his time at UND."

HONG ON UND
"I chose UND because of their amazing tennis program. The best group of guys and top tier coaches. Something that stood out to me was their outstanding aviation and aerospace program. I am looking forward to having the best years of my life pursuing my career in aviation and having an unbelievable time with the team."

ABOUT JULE SCHULTE
A native of Germany ... Spent one season at Park Tudor in Indiana as an exchange student ... Helped lead the Panthers to their best season in program history ... Spent the season playing at the No. 2 singles position as a sophomore ... Thrived on the international stage in Germany ... Appeared in multiple tournaments as a junior player.

BOYSEN ON SCHULTE
"We feel extremely fortunate to be adding Jule to our team in the 2022-23 season. She has a wealth of international tennis experience from her last few years as a junior player, and her tennis intelligence and court presence are obvious when you watch her play. During the recruiting process, it became very apparent that Jule possesses the competitive fire and team-first attitude that we strive to have in our players at UND. I am sure that she will be a big part of our success."

SCHULTE ON UND
"I chose UND because I felt right at the beginning really welcomed. The bonding between the team really got me. I think it is really important to play on a compatible level, but have at the same time friends I can talk to and have fun with. I have a feeling to combine my tennis ambition with really good academics. I am looking forward to play for the tennis team, grow as a person, and just have a great experience in general."
