Matt Norman signs with Fighting Hawks

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- North Dakota men's basketball head coach Paul Sather has announced the addition of guard Matt Norman to the Fighting Hawks as a transfer from Snow College. Norman will be immediately eligible in 2021-22 and will be a sophomore on the roster.

"Matt is a versatile guard that brings great size, skill, and feel to court," said Sather. "He has great range shooting the ball and passes with great accuracy. He led Snow College in both points and assists this past season and played in one of the better junior college leagues in the country. He brings a wealth of college basketball experience to our team and really fits our style of play. Matt's a great fit to our program and the University of North Dakota."

Norman comes to North Dakota following two successful years at Snow College, where he helped lead the Badgers to a 16-8 record and a berth in the Region 18 tournament. The Orem, Utah, native was named to the all-conference first team following his most recent season after leading the team with 16.7 points per game and five assists per contest. Norman also grabbed just under four rebounds per game while knocking down 36 percent of his shots from distance.

He finished with 10 games of over 20 points, including a season-high 26 on 11-of-20 shooting against Arizona Western College, and finished with only six games with fewer than 10 points. Norman dished out five helpers or more in eight contests a year ago, led by a double-double performance vs. the College of Southern Nevada where he had 14 points and 10 assists.

A standout at Timpanogos High School, Norman scored over 20 points per game to go alongside six rebounds and four assists per contest to earn first team all-state honors and region most valuable player in his senior year.
