No. 3 North Dakota overcame a pair of three-goal deficits to rally for a 5-5 tie against No. 8/7 Quinnipiac on Friday night inside a raucous Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Gavin Hain capped a furious rally in the third period with his fourth goal of the season to give UND a 5-4 lead with just 11 minutes to play in the final stanza, but CJ McGee knotted the game at 5-5 just two minutes later to send the contest into overtime.
In the extra session, NoDak killed off a pair of 4-on-3 power plays for the Bobcats to preserve the tie and remain unbeaten. The two sides played a three-person shootout to decide bragging rights in an already decided game, and it was the hosts coming out victorious, 2-1.
