MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team made it a clean sweep on Saturday, rolling to a 7-0 win over Gustavus Adolphus from the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
UND (3-5) closed out a perfect day of tennis in the Twin Cities, having defeated Northern Iowa by the same 7-0 score earlier in the day. The Fighting Hawks won every set contended in the match to close the weekend with a 2-1 mark.
In doubles action, the top duo of
Sapir Sela and
Andrea Jansson started it off with a 6-1 victory before
Lucia Rizza and
Allie Ochotorena secured the doubles point with a 6-2 triumph from the middle position. UND made it a clean sweep during two-person play with a 6-3 score from
Nore Heinitz and
Charlotte Bowles at the No. 3 spot.
No singles match was decided by a margin fewer than three, as North Dakota cruised to a dominating performance in singles.
North Dakota will open the home portion of its schedule next Sunday with a showdown against Minnesota State Moorhead at 10 a.m. from Choice Health and Fitness.
