Softball Announces 2023 Schedule

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota softball team finalized its spring 2023 schedule this week, with 56 games in total and trips to six different tournaments before their conference slate begins. The team will play tournaments across the USA--going to California, South Carolina, Texas, Florida, Missouri and Maryland. 

The Fighting Hawks begin the season with a trip west to San Luis Obsipo, Calif. for the Central Coast Classic (Feb. 10-12) where UND will start off with Nevada on Friday afternoon and then take on host Cal Poly in the evening. Saturday they will play UC Santa Barbara and then Cal Poly, then finish off the weekend with a single game against UCSB on Sunday.

The Hawks then fly to the other coast the next weekend for a the Charleston Southern Buc Up Tournament at Charleston Southern. The Hawks begin with a game against Providence Friday, Feb. 17, midday, then a late afternoon showdown with hosts Charleston Southern. Saturday the Hawks are up bright and early against Massachusetts and then take on Providence again. The final game of the weekend is an early start with UMass on Sunday.
 
Next UND will travel to St. Charles, Mo. for a weekend set (Feb. 24-26). Friday afternoon the Hawks take on Wisconsin-Green Bay and then take on Lindenwood Saturday morning with an afternoon game against Green Bay. Sunday morning the Hawks take on Lindenwood to close the weekend.
 
North Dakota then travels south to Lubbock, Texas for a five game weekend at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic (Mar. 3-5). The Hawks begin with Rutgers on Friday morning, followed by Seton Hall early in the afternoon. Saturday they play both Rutgers and SHU again, then on Sunday they take on Texas Tech, the hosts.

The Hawks will stay south the next weekend as they go east to Orlando, Fla. for five games at the UCF Round Robin (Mar. 10-12). Friday morning they take on Pennsylvania, then take on Kennesaw State that afternoon. Saturday the Hawks kick off the day with Toledo in the morning and then Kennesaw State right after. Sunday they close out the weekend against Central Florida.
 
Following the weekend in Florida, the Hawks fly north for seven games in Maryland. On March 15 they have two games at Mount St. Mary's starting at 1 PM Central Time. Friday they go to College Park for the Capital City Classic. Friday they take on Rider University in the early afternoon, followed by Maryland. Saturday they take on Rider in the morning and then Texas Tech in the afternoon. Finally Sunday morning they close out with Bucknell.
 
Summit League action begins after that as they travel to Vermillion to take on South Dakota on March 25. Saturday a doubleheader starts at noon and then Sunday they take the field at 11 AM. On April 1st they take on Omaha in the Cornhusker State with a noon doubleheader and then Sunday matchup at 11 AM.
 
UND opens their home slate with a three game set against Kansas City at Apollo Sports Complex on April 7 with a doublehader Friday starting at 2 PM and then a single game on Saturday at 1 PM. On the 12th the Hawks host Benmidji State with a doubleheader starting at 3:30 PM. That weekend St. Thomas comes to Grand Forks for a three game set from April 15-16. The Saturday doubleheader starts at 1 PM and then a single game on Sunday at 1 PM. On April 19th the Hawks welcome Valley City State to the Apollo for a doubleheader starting at 3:30 PM. The 13 game homestand concludes with a three game set against South Dakota State from April 22-23. On the 22nd the doubleheader starts at 1 PM and then Sunday first pitch is also at 1 PM.

North Dakota returns to the road, making the short trip down I-29 to Fargo for three against North Dakota State the next weekend. Starting on the 29th at noon they take on the Bison in a doubleheader and then close out the series at 11 AM the following day.
 
North Dakota spends the final weekend of the regular season at home against Western Illinois (May 5-6). The Friday doubleheader starts at 2 PM and first pitch 1 PM on the 6th. The conference tournament will be in Brookings, S.D. from May 10-13th.
