GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Creighton on Friday afternoon from Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D. 

"Congrats to Creighton," said UND head women's tennis coach Tom Boysen. "They are a very well-coached, disciplined team. I thought we played a terrific doubles point today to take the lead going into singles, but unfortunately we didn't capitalize on the momentum."

UND (2-2) started out strong once again, capturing the doubles point with victories on the No. 1 and 3 courts to grab a 1-0 lead. Sapir Sela and Andrea Jansson notched a 6-3 win at the top position before the Bluejays (1-0) answered back with a 6-3 triumph of their own in the middle court. Charlotte Bowles and Nyah Kauders sealed the 1-0 lead for the hosts with a 6-4 victory from the No. 3 court to keep the Fighting Hawks perfect in earning the point in two-person play this season. 

"I sensed some tenativeness and indecision early on, and Creighton took advantage of it," said Boysen. "We fought hard, made some good adjustments and nearly turned the corner in several of our matches, but ultimately we made some mental mistakes that we need to clean up in order to beat good teams."

In singles action, Creighton stormed out to wins on the No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 courts to claim the match; however, Jule Schulte continued her strong start to her freshman campaign with another victory from the fifth spot, notching a 6-4, 7-6 score to earn the second point of the afternoon for the Hawks. 

"I know this team is so close to having a signature win or two and knocking down the door," said Boysen. "But, we have to kick the door down, not hope that someone opens it for us."

North Dakota returns to action on Sunday against Air Force from Choice Health and Fitness at 10 a.m. in Grand Forks.
