SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of North Dakota track and field program earned 11 spots on the All-Summit League Team, with 10 student-athletes making the team, the league office announced on Thursday morning. The 10 Fighting Hawks earned all-conference status by finishing in the top three in their respective events at the Summit League Indoor Championships last weekend.

Malene Kollberg headlined the all-conference team for UND, winning the gold medal in the pentathlon with a personal-best point total of 3,837 points on Saturday. That total currently ranks No. 2 in school history. Going into the final pentathlon event, Kollberg was 61 points behind teammate Tiffanie Magnusson but finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.85, which moved her to the top spot at the end of the pentathlon.

The native from Drammen, Norway, set the pace early for North Dakota with the third-fastest 60-meter time of the pentathlon with a time of 8.83. She added to her point total in the following event, tying for the top pentathlon high jump mark with a clearance of 5-4 3/4 (1.64m). Kollberg's biggest improvement came in the shot put, where she recorded a PR of 33-11 1/4 (10.34m), beating her previous best of 33-3 1/4 (10.14m). Kollberg also tied the No. 2 long jump mark in school history with a personal-best leap of 19-3 1/4 (5.87m). At the time of the jump, that mark tied the school record.

Magnusson, later named the Newcomer of the Championships, earned the silver medal and her spot on the All-Summit League Team in the pentathlon with a PR total of 3,814 points. That total ranks No. 3 in program history. She built a massive lead over the rest of the field early, highlighted by her showing in the long jump, where she shattered the school record. Magnusson broke the long jump record with a personal-best leap of 19-7 1/2 (5.98m), beating the previous record of 19-3 1/4 (5.87m) which was shared by Kollberg and Elise Ulseth. Magnusson also put down PR's in the high jump (5-3 1/4, 1.61m) and shot put (39-5 1/4, 12.02m). Her personal-best in the high jump was the second-best mark in the pentathlon.

That same night, Magnusson returned to the Summit League Indoor Championships and posted her name to the all-conference team for the second time. Magnusson finished with the bronze medal in the long jump with a mark of 19-1 1/4 (5.82m).

Luke Labatte, the silver medalist in the 3,000 meters, gained his spot on the All-Summit League Team with a time of 8:12.47. His finish made him the top point scorer for the UND men at the meet with eight points.
