Ulseth Opens Heptathlon Competition at NCAA Outdoor Championships

AUSTIN, Texas – Elise Ulseth opened competition in the heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium on Friday. Through the first four events, she sits 22nd with 3,253 points.

The Norwegian native began the meet with the 100-meter hurdles and clocked a time of 14.18, earning a day-high 953 points.

Two hours later, Ulseth recorded a season-best clearance of 5-6 1/2 (1.69m) in the high jump, tying for the ninth-best height of the event. That clearance brought her total to 1,795 points and moved her up from No. 19 to No. 16 in the heptathlon standings.

Later in the evening, Ulseth racked up 663 more points in the heptathlon with a personal-best toss of 39-5 3/4 (12.03m) in the shot put, bettering her previous best of 38-7 3/4 (11.78m).

She ended day one of the heptathlon with a time of 26.03 in the 200 meters for her final 795 points of the day.

Ulseth will conclude the heptathlon at the National Championships on Saturday with the long jump at 4 p.m., javelin at 5:15 p.m. and 800 meters at 9:43 p.m. ESPN+ will have dedicated live streams for the heptathlon long jump and javelin, while the heptathlon 200 meters will have a chance of airing during the live coverage on ESPN2.
