GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota volleyball team hosted Minnesota Crookston in exhibition play Saturday in their final tune up before the regular season begins. UND won in a 3-0 sweep (25-11, 25-16, 25-16) inside the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
Despite UND winning the first three sets, five sets were played in the exhibition. Due to the nature of the exhibition, official statistics were not kept. The Fighting Hawks finished on the winning side of the first four sets by tallies of 25-11, 25-16, 25-16 and 25-17. UMC took the fifth set 25-15.
The Hawks will open the season at the Bobcat Classic on Friday, Aug. 25 against Kennesaw State at 11 a.m. before squaring off against tournament hosts Montana State at 8:30 that evening. Saturday the Hawks will finish out the tournament against Oregon State at noon.
