GRAND FORKS, N.D. – For the second time in three weeks, North Dakota volleyball's
Paige Barber has been recognized as the Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
Barber is the first Hawk since Kortney Carney in 2022 to record two or more Summit League player of the week accolades in a season and the third Fighting Hawk to win two or more awards in the same season since UND joined the conference in 2018.
The senior put up another big week for North Dakota, logging 37 kills (.429 hit percentage), two service aces, 15 digs and three blocks across seven sets of volleyball, helping the Hawks go 1-1 on the week.
The Brecksville, Ohio native had a match-high 13 kills along with eight digs on Thursday against Denver, before pouring in 24 kills on a .611 hit percentage, with seven digs and three blocks in a win over Oral Roberts on Saturday.
The 24 kills were the most Barber has put up in her career in a four-set match, good for her third career 20 or more kill performance. She is the first Hawk since Tara Holmes on Sept. 8, 2007 to tally 20 or more kills on a .600 or better hit percentage and her 24 kills were the most in a UND four-set match since Oct. 14, 2008.
Barber is averaging 17.4 kills per match over her last 10 contests, registering double-digit kills in 14-of-17 matches this season. She has had a match-high in kills in 14-of-17 matches, including in all six Summit League matches.
The outside hitter has 250 kills on the season, good for the second most in the Summit League and her three 20 or more kill performances this season are the most in the conference.
The Fighting Hawks will be back in action on Thursday, in a road match against St. Thomas at 7 p.m.
