CHICAGO, Ill. – North Dakota football comes in at No. 17 in the Stats Perform Preseason Top 25 rankings released on Monday morning. The Missouri Valley Football Conference has four teams represented in the poll.
Defending national champion South Dakota State holds the top spot. North Dakota State, who also played for the FCS title, is No. 2. North Dakota is the next best-ranked MVFC program in the rankings, sitting at No. 17. Northern Iowa rounds out the MVFC in the poll at the 23-spot. Southern Illinois and Youngstown State also received votes in the poll and sit outside the top 25.
Three teams on UND's schedule appeared in the preseason poll, with all three of the teams (South Dakota State, North Dakota State and Northern Iowa) being MVFC members.
North Dakota will kick off the 2023 season on Saturday, Sept. 2, hosting Drake inside the Alerus Center. The Fighting Hawks and Bulldogs are set to square off at 3 p.m. (CT).
