Sophie Cook signs with Fighting Hawks for 2025-26 season

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- University of North Dakota women's golf coach Kris Kroetsch announced on Wednesday that Minnesota prep standout Sophie Cook has signed a valid Grant-In-Aid (GIA) to join the Fighting Hawks beginning in the 2025-26 season. 

"We are excited to welcome Sophie to the North Dakota women's golf family," said Kroetsch. "Sophie is everything we are looking for in a student-athlete in our program, as she has shined on the course, in the classroom and in the community."

Is a three-sport standout at Hawley High School ... Has appeared in three straight Minnesota Class AA State Tournaments for women's golf ... Notched a seventh place finish as a freshman in 2022 ... Was runner-up as a sophomore in 2023 ... Captured her section crown as a junior before placing fourth at state this past season ... Has appeared in Junior PGA Championships and Players Tour events at the state level during the summer ... Also participates in basketball and cross country ... Is an active volunteer in her church community.
