Fighting Hawks fall, 5-2, at Lamar

Box Score BEAUMONT, Texas -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team fell, 5-2, at Lamar on Tuesday afternoon from the Thompson Family Tennis Center in Beaumont, Texas. 

Once again, UND dominated doubles action to take a 1-0 lead with wins on all three courts. The top pairing of Sapir Sela and Andrea Jansson opened up two-person play with a 6-4 win before Charlotte Bowles and Aziza Aubin followed with a 6-4 victory from the No. 3 court to seal the 1-0 start. The middle duo of Jule Schulte and Nore Heinitz kept momentum rolling for the visitors with a 7-5 triumph to cement the perfect start for NoDak. 

Lamar pulled ahead, 2-1, with a pair of two setters at the No. 2 and 6 positions, but the remainder of the courts went to tiebreakers in tightly-contested contest. The Cardinals pushed their advantage to 3-1 at the third spot, but Aubin pulled the Hawks within one at 3-2 with a 7-6, 2-6, 7-6 win at the No. 5 court. 

The final two courts came down to the wire, with UND coming just two points away from taking both matches, but Lamar held for the wins to claim the overall match victory by a 5-2 score. 

North Dakota will stay in Texas for battle with Prairie View A&M on Thursday at 9 a.m.
