BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- The University of North Dakota men's golf team concluded its first day of the Jackrabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State, on Friday from Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
After two rounds of play, the Fighting Hawks sit in eighth out of 12 teams with a score of 601 (+25), using a strong final 18 holes to shave seven strokes off the scorecard.
In individual play,
Brandon McGarry put together one of his best days in the green and white to sit tied atop the leaderboard with a 141 (-3). The senior was at his best in the opening round, sinking a trio of birdies and an eagle on the par-5 16th to shoot a 69 before playing par golf over his final 18 holes of the day to finish tied with two others for first.Â
Freshman
Kagan Kollar continued his strong week to rank tied for 19th with a 148 (+4) while
Lucas Feterl is right behind at 25th with a 149 (+5). The duo each notched a 73 over the final 18 holes, with Kollar sinking a team-best five birdies in the round and Feterl added three of his own.Â
Joseph Kortan and
Grayson Wetch each improved on their scores over the final round both score a 152 (+8) and sit tied for 32nd while
Nathan Peyerl rounded out the day for the Fighting Hawks tied for 59th at 157 (+13).Â
North Dakota will close out the event on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. (CT).Â
