GRAND FORKS, N.D. -
North Dakota softball is back in action at Albrecht Field on Wednesday evening as the Fighting Hawks welcome in Jamestown for a doubleheader. The action is slated for a 5 p.m. start and fans are encouraged to bring out their furry four-legged friends for "Bark in the Park" day. Live coverage links are available at www.FightingHawks.com.

THE MATCHUP
» The Hawks and the Jimmies meet for the 24th time in Wednesday's opener and for the first time since March 28, 2012. The series began in May of 1979 with UND winning 16-3 in the first-ever meeting between the two Peace Garden State programs.

» North Dakota has won the previous seven matchups against Jamestown, all of which were played at Apollo Field, which includes doubleheader sweeps in 2011 and 2012; the lone two meetings between the two in-state foes since UND began its NCAA Division I membership in 2009.

» The Jimmies enter with an overall record of 24-9 and have won ten straight games. UJ is receiving votes in the latest installment of the NAIA Softball Netting Professionals Coaches' Top 25 Rating.

» Maddie Spaeth leads Jamestown with a .470 average, 54 hits, 11 doubles and 43 RBI and is one of four Jimmies to score 30+ runs this season.

» Hope Ransom is the reigning NorthStar Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week after tossing six shutout innings in an 8-0 win against Dakota State on Sunday.

HAWWWWWWWWWWKS WWWWWWWWWWIN
UND's Summit League sweep of visiting Kansas City pushed North Dakota to 20 wins. It is the 13th season in program history that the Hawks have reached 20 wins and the fifth as a Division I program. It is the program's first 20-win campaign since winning 22 games in 2019.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
The Hawks banged out ten doubles in the series sweep of Kansas City; the most by the Hawks in any weekend this season. Leading the charge in the two-bagger department was Callie Honig and Taya Hopfauf who each delivered three. Hailey Bethune added a pair and the Hawks received doubles from both Makenna Alexander and Camryn Lasota

HOME COOKING
The Hawks moved to 3-0 all-time at Albrecht Field with its series sweep of Kansas City. UND tallied 23 hits over the three contests scoring a dozen runs with an overall slash of .303/.375/.434. Defensively, UND committed just two errors, while Fighting Hawks arms scattered a combined nine hits, struckout a collective 13 and posted an opponent batting average of .134.

HOW SWEEP IT IS
The Hawks' sweep of KC is the first for UND this season and the first since taking all three Summit League contests against NDSU last spring. It was the third Summit series sweep for the Hawks under Stevens. In three Summit League series this season, the Hawks have produced an equal result or fared better in each than against the same opponents last season. UND swept the Roos after losing two of three at Apollo last season. The Hawks claimed one contest against South Dakota in the league opener to equal its series result from 2024 and UND won one over the preseason favorite Mavericks after being swept at Apollo last spring. The Hawks are off to the program's best nine-game start to Summit League play since becoming a member in 2019.

THERE'S A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
North Dakota's home-opening series against Kansas City not only signified the first games ever played at Albrecht Field, but the Summit League series served as the first-ever games contested on campus for the UND softball program which first debuted in 1977.
