How It Happened
After Nelson sat down the Rams in the top of the 1st, the Hawks loaded the bases in the bottom half, following a
Brooklyn Morris leadoff walk, a Severson single and a Lasota walk. Neumayer got UND on the board with a sacrifice fly, bringing in Morris, to go up 1-0. NoDak settled for one run in the frame, leaving two on base.
Fordham tied it in the top of the 2nd, getting three hits off Nelson. North Dakota retook the lead in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs on three hits. Neumayer had her second RBI of the game, via a double which drove in Severson. Hopfauf followed that up with ab RBI single, to put UND up 3-1.
The Rams scored an unearned run in the 5th inning, off a sacrifice fly. Fordham then had a runner on second base with two outs and a chance to tie the game, but Nelson got Eva Koratsis to lineout to shortstop, keeping the score at 3-2.
Nelson would allow one more hit the rest of the way, leading UND to a 3-2 victory over Fordham.
