GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- North Dakota will travel to St. Paul, Minn. on Friday for a non-conference game against Concordia-St. Paul. After that game, UND will travel to Vermillion, S.D. to play a North Central Conference game against South Dakota on Saturday night.
Concordia - St. Paul enters the weekend on an eleven-game winning streak. The Golden Bears boast a season record of 25-2 and 14-1 in the NSIC. They are currently ranked #4 in the latest AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Golden Bear offense is paced by sophomore setter Maggie McNamara. McNamara leads all of Division II volleyball with 14.20 set assists per game. Offensively, CSP is very balanced as they have five players averaging at least 2.80 kills per game. Leading the team in kills per game is freshman Emily Palkert with 3.74 kills per game. Defensively, the Golden Bears are paced by Mary Slinger. Slinger is averaging 5.80 digs per game.
South Dakota has amassed an overall record of 19-6 and an NCC record of 3-4. The Coyotes will host UND on Saturday night at 8 p.m. at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion, S.D. Offensively, the Coyotes are led by junior Kathleen Hruska. Hruska is averaging 4.20 kills per game, which ranks her third in the North Central Conference. Sophomore setter Gina Baldwin quarterbacks the offense, and also ranks third in the NCC with 12.29 set assists per game. Libero Amber Kobus paces the defense for the Coyotes. Kobus leads the Coyotes with 5.35 digs per game. South Dakota has three players that average more than 3.50 digs per game.
North Dakota has lost six straight games. Its last victory came on September 25 against Valley City State. It is the longest losing streak for UND since 2004, when the Sioux lost nine straight games.
