GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The Fighting Sioux volleyball team lost the first two games, 30-21 and 30-20, respectively. UND forced a game four by rallying late in game three and winning 32-30. Augustana proved to be too much for the Sioux as the Vikings won game four, 30-20. It is the fifth straight game that UND has lost to Augustana.
With the victory, Augustana improves to 18-10 overall and 6-5 in the NCC. North Dakota falls to 6-22 overall and 0-11 in the NCC.
The Vikings' Cayla Schroeder had a match-high 24 kills in the contest. Schroeder hit .323 from the field. Schroeder's teammate Ellen Andrews tallied 21 kills in the match.
Offensively, the Sioux were led by sophomore Britta Hanson (Thompson, N.D.). Hanson had a team-high 16 kills in the game. Hanson also finished with five blocks in the contest. Sophomore Amanda Polzin (Hutchinson, Minn.) totaled 13 kills in the contest.
Setter Megan Langseth (So., Alexandria, Minn.) racked up 42 set assists in the match and eight digs.
Freshman Courtney Halvorson (Oklee, Minn.) paced the Sioux defense with 22 digs. Sophomore Stephanie Mason (Excelsior, Minn.) finished with 19 digs in the contest.
UND will host #16 Minnesota State tomorrow in its final regular season game. The game time will be played at 4 p.m at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
It is the final game in the North Central Conference for North Dakota and Minnesota State.
