Sioux cruise past Great West rival Chicago State

DES MOINES, Iowa -- North Dakota won five of six singles matches and claimed the doubles point today to defeat Great West Conference rival Chicago State 6-1.

UND improved to 4-3 with the victory.

The Sioux captured wins in Nos. 2 through 6 singles behind three freshmen and two sophomores.

Freshman Stephanie Petsis rolled to 6-1 and 6-0 wins in No. 2 singles against Roaslia Tejoprayitno, while classmate Callie Ronkowski (Grand Forks, N.D.) dispatched Rosalina Tejoprayitno (6-4, 6-2) in No. 3 singles.

Sophomore Hallie Welk (Bismarck, N.D.) defeated Peggy Moore (7-5, 6-4) in No. 4 singles.

UND also claimed wins in No. 5 and No. 6 singles by default.

The Sioux won the doubles point behind the No. 2 team of Petsis and Welk, and the No. 3 duo of Galipeau and Megan Sween (So., Grand Forks, N.D.).

UND will wrap up its road trip against host Drake University on Sunday.
