GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Senior goalkeeper
Olivia Swenson was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 6 First Team in an announcement by CoSIDA on Thursday, becoming the first North Dakota soccer student-athlete since
Rachael Loomis in 2009 and 2010 to achieve the honor.
Â
The Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the eighth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored.
Â
The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools. The Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
Â
Swenson, an accounting major with a cumulative GPA of 4.0, finished this season as The Summit League's leader in goals against average (0.58) and save percentage (.892). The senior also matched a program record with seven shutouts this season, moving into third all-time with 10 clean sheets over her career.
Â
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second- and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. For more information about the Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® Teams program, please visit
