SIOUX FALLS, S.D.-- Senior
Ryan Riihinen was named to the 2020 Summit League Men's Golfers to Watch list in conjunction with the conference's coaches poll. UND, who finished ninth last year at the Summit League Championships, was tabbed to finish in the same spot by the coaches in the league this season, despite a solid Fall season.
Riihinen paces the Fighting Hawks this season with a 75.67 stroke average through nine rounds. He's carded a pair of round at par or better, including a low-round 70 at the Ron Moore Invitational on Oct. 6. He's been consistent in the early portion of the schedule, staying in the 70s in all nine rounds with a 70, 71 and 73 to his credit.
Jackson Davis second on the team with a 76.11 stroke average and owns the team's lowest single-round score at 69 in the opening countable round of the season at Sand Creek in Chesterton, Ind. for the Valparaiso Crusader Collegiate on Sep. 16.
Senior
Patrick Traynor is one full stroke behind him at 77.11 while
Cole Johnson is the fourth UND golfer to have played all nine rounds this Fall (79.33).
North Dakota gets back to action Feb. 10 at the Southern Utah Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational in St. George, Utah. It's the first of six events in the Spring, culminating in the Summit League Championships again held in Newton, Kan., May 3-5.
