NOTES: UND Hosts Summit League Indoor Championships on Friday & Saturday

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota track and field teams will host the 2022 Summit League Indoor Championships at the Pollard Athletic Center on Friday and Saturday. This will be the first time in league history that the Fighting Hawks will host the indoor championships.

The meet will begin Friday at 9:30 a.m. (CT) with the pentathlon, while the heptathlon will start at 10 a.m. (CT), followed by field events at 3 p.m. (CT) and track events commencing at 3:30 p.m. (CT). Saturday will kick off with the final heptathlon events at 9:30 a.m. (CT), field events at 11 a.m. (CT) and events on the track at 1 p.m. (CT).

Live results will be available at HerosTiming.com. Both days will also be streamed at HBConnects.com/undtrack, with a live stream and camera angles from the track, high jump, long jump, throws and pole vault areas.

The top three finishers in each event will earn all-conference honors and traditional NCAA scoring rules apply at the Summit League Indoor Championships, with values scored to eight places for all events as follows: 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Scoring will be the same for both individual and relay events.

Admission to the championships are $10 for adults and $5 for kids per day.

UND Student-Athletes Ranked in The Summit League Top-10
Going into the meet, a total of 33 Fighting Hawks rank in the top-10 in the Summit League in their respective events and are the most likely UND student-athletes to score at the meet. The women's side has a total of 28 of the 33 student-athletes within scoring distance.

Ulseth's Chances at Nationals
Based on the current rankings, Elise Ulseth is the most likely Fighting Hawk to win a gold medal at the conference meet and is also the best-ranked Hawk nationally, sitting 20th in the pentathlon with 4,029 points. A win in the pentathlon on Friday, along with a better score would increase her chances of qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships. If the season ended today, Ulseth would trail the No. 16 spot by 14 points. The top 16 student-athletes in all categories at the conclusion of all conference meets will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
