GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Air Force on Sunday morning to conclude a weekend of tennis from Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D.
For the first time this season, UND (2-3) was unable to jump out to a 1-0 lead after dropping the doubles point for the first time in five matches with a 6-3 loss on the top court and a 6-4 defeat at the No. 3 spot.
Jule Schulte kept her strong start to her freshman campaign going with another singles victory on the No. 5 court, notching a 6-3, 6-4 win to earn the first point of the day for the Fighting Hawks.
Nyah Kauders picked up the second point for the hosts with a 6-3, 7-6 score at the second spot, but Air Force grabbed wins on the No. 1, 4 and 6 courts in two sets before adding a victory in three sets at the third position to seal the 5-2 triumph.
North Dakota will head to Lincoln, Neb. for a pair of matches next weekend against Nebraska on Saturday and Gonzaga on Sunday.
