MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team took down Marquette, 5-2, on Friday afternoon from the Elite Sports Club in Milwaukee, Wis.
UND (3-5) snapped a four-match losing streak in style, capturing the program's first win over Marquette in three tries. The Fighting Hawks took down the Golden Eagles (0-5) by the same score it fell last season, notching its third victory of the year.
After Marquette took a 1-0 lead in doubles play after wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts, NoDak bounced back with victories on five of the six singles courts to claim the 5-2 triumph.
Sapir Sela notched her first victory at the No. 2 spot on the season, posting a pair of 6-3 scores to get the Fighting Hawks on the board before
Nore Heinitz also picked up back-to-back triumphs by the same 6-3 score on the third court to even the match up at 2-2.
Jule Schulte gave the visitors a lead for the first time on the day at the No. 5 position with a 6-2, 7-6 win before
Angela Georgieva clinched the victory by a 7-5, 7-6 score on the bottom court.
Andrea Jansson capped off the day with a three-set triumph, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, from the fourth spot.
North Dakota returns to action tomorrow morning against UIC at 11 a.m. from Milwaukee.
