Box Score LINCOLN, Neb. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team opened its weekend with a 4-3 victory over Montana on Friday afternoon from Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb.
UND (2-5) continued to establish its dominance on the doubles court, grabbing a 1-0 lead with a pair of wins on the No. 2 and 3 courts. The pairing of
Lucia Rizza and
Aziza Aubin started it off with a 6-1 triumph at the No. 3 spot before
Jule Schulte and
Nore Heinitz sealed the early advantage for the Fighting Hawks in a thrilling 7-6 (7-5) match at the middle position.
After Montana took its first lead at 2-1 following victories on the No. 6 and 1 courts, UND knotted the match right back up at the third position with a 6-4, 7-5 win from Schulte to polish off a perfect day for the sophomore and bring the score level.
Heinitz followed her doubles partner's lead and also made it a perfect day on the courts with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at the No. 4 spot to restore the UND lead at 3-2; however, the Griz rallied back again with a three-set triumph on the fifth court to even the contest at 3-3 and turn all eyes to the No. 2 position.
Andrea Jansson shined once again for the green and white, as the program's all-time leader in wins added another to her belt with a 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 triumph from the No. 2 court to give the Fighting Hawks the 4-3 victory.
North Dakota will close the weekend on Saturday at 9 a.m. against Nebraska.
