Warner paces Fighting Hawks at Jackrabbit Invitational

BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- The University of North Dakota women's golf team wrapped up its second tournament of the spring season on Tuesday at the Jackrabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State, from Boulder Creek Golf Club from Boulder City, Nev. 

For the second straight tournament, the Fighting Hawks placed sixth and earned a team score of 899 (+35) to sit just one shot behind Little Rock for fifth in the 15-team field.

Sophomore Kylie Warner led the way for UND with a top-10 finish, placing tied for eighth with a 220 (+4) over the three-round, two-day event. The score is a new career low for Warner over a 54-hole event, shaving two strokes off her previous best set earlier this year at the Tommie Invitational in October. She also set a new career-low for a round, carding a 71 (-1) with a trio of birdies. 

Emersyn Walker just missed a top-10 finish, sitting tied for 16th overall with a 224 (+8) to rank second on the team and notch her third top-20 finish of the season and 11th of her career. Lily Bredemeier had a strong opening and closing rounds, firing a 72 (E) and 73 (+1), respectively, to close with a 226 (+10) and finish tied for 27th. 

Erin Johnson and Gigi Lund rounded out the scoring for the Hawks, with Johnson finishing tied for 52nd with a 235 (+19) and Lund sitting just behind her teammate with a 239 (+23) to rank tied for 61st on the leaderboard. 

North Dakota will get back in action in the opening week of April at the WIU Intercollegiate from TPC Deere Run in Illinois.
