CHULA VISTA, Calif.--Led by senior Amanda Kaler's final-round 79, the Fighting Sioux women's golf team was able to move up one spot and finish sixth today at the Aztec Fall Classic, hosted by San Diego State at the Salt Creek Golf Course.
The Sioux shot a 68-over-par 644 (321-323) at the two-round meet. Host San Diego State took first place with a one-shot victory over North Dakota State, shooting a 42-over 618 (314-304). NDSU's Amanda Miller captured medalist honors with a three-over 147 (74-73).
Kaler, a Fargo, N.D., native, was the only Sioux golfer to crack 80 in either round, following yesterday's 78 with a 79 today. Kaler finished with a 13-over 157 to tie for 12th place.
Senior Kelli Dahle (Bemidji, Minn.) fired an 80 during each round and tied for 20th place with a 160.
Junior Kristi Lucken (Fosston, Minn.) tied for 25th with a 163 (81-82), while freshman Chivas Beaudoin (Dickinson, N.D.) tied for 29th with a 164 (82-82).
Sophomore Molly Martin (Ramsey, Minn.) finished 35th with a 168 (86-82).
The Aztec Fall Classic was UND's final event of the fall season.
