UND to host, compete in NCAA DII Women?s Golf North Regional

GRAND FORKS, N.D.--The University of North Dakota, the host for the 2008 NCAA Division II Women's Golf North Region Championship, is one of six teams selected to compete in the tournament, announced today by the  NCAA Division II Women's Golf Committee.

The Sioux enter the regional championship as the No. 6 seed. The North field also includes top-seeded Nebraska-Omaha, No. 2 seed Upper Iowa, No. 3 seed Minnesota State, No. 4 seed Augustana and No. 5 seed Truman State.

Jacquelyn Hauser of Concordia-St. Paul, Megan Placko of Winona State and Chelsey Ouren of Minnesota State, Moorhead were also selected to compete as individual participants.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be held May 5-7 at the King's Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks. The tournament will be the final Division II championship event hosted by UND, which will begin Division I-Football Championship Subdivision competition in 2008-09.

The top two teams, along with the top two individuals not with an advancing team, will qualify for the The 2008 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships, hosted by Rice University May 13-16 at Memorial Park in Houston, Texas.

North Dakota captured the 2007 North Region Championship ? hosted by Upper Iowa ? and advanced to the NCAA Championship, where the Sioux earned a sixth-place national finish, the best finish in school history.
