LAKE ELMO, Minn.--The Fighting Sioux women's golf team is tied for first place after day one of the two-day Concordia University Fall Invitational at the Tartan Park Golf Club.
UND shot a 42-over-par 330 today and enters Monday's final round deadlocked with the host Golden Bears atop the 11-team field.
Winona State is in third place with a 335, five strokes behind the Sioux and Golden Bears.
Megan Placko of Winona State paced the individual leaderboard during the opening round, carding a five-over 77. She leads UND's Kristi Lucken (Jr., Fosston, Minn.), Concordia's Jacquelyn Hauser and Nebraska-Omaha's Erin Ommen by just a single stroke. Lucken is looking to capture medalist honors for the second time in as many events this season.
Lucken is joined in the top 10 by freshman teammate Chivas Beaudoin (Dickinson, N.d.), who shot a 10-over 82 and entered the clubhouse in a three-way tie for seventh place.
UND seniors Amanda Kaler (Fargo, N.D.) and Kelli Dahle (Bemidji, Minn.) are among the top 20 after one round. Kaler shot a 12-over 84 and is tied for 12th, while Dahle posted a 14-over 86 and is tied for 19th.
Sophomore Molly Martin (Ramsey, Minn.) is tied for 28th with a 17-over 89 to round out UND's team entry.
A pair of Sioux - freshman Shaynna Mann (Dickinson, N.D.) and sophomore Lauryn Job (Minnetonka, Minn.) are competing as individuals. Mann is in 43rd place with a 93 and Job is tied for 49th with a 97.
Tomorrow's final round will again be held at the Tartan Golf Club.
