MOORHEAD, Minn.--A spirited push by the Fighting Sioux women's golf team fell a single stroke short as UND finished second today at the Red River Valley Invitational, co-hosted by UND and Minnesota State, Moorhead at the Meadows Golf Course.
UND shot a 313 during today's final round, the lowest of any team, but finished one shot behind tournament champion North Dakota State. The Sioux finished with a two-day 638 (325-313) while the Biston shot a combined 637 (321-316).
NDSU's Jenna Buckwalter captured medalist honors with a 155 (78-77).
UND freshman Chivas Beaudoin (Dickinson, N.D.) led the field with a second-round 75 and finished in second place, two shots off the lead, with a 157 (82-75).
A pair of Sioux seniors joined their freshman teammate in the top 10: Kelli Dahle (Bemidji, Minn.) tied for fifth place with a 159 (80-79), while Amanda Kaler (Fargo, N.D.) placed eighth with a 162 (78-84).
Sophomore Molly Martin (Ramsey, Minn.) and junior Kristi Lucken (Fosston, Minn.) rounded out UND's team entry. Martin carded a two-day 166 (85-81) to tie for 11th, while Lucken shot a 167 (89-78) to place 14th.
The Sioux also had five golfers compete as individuals. Freshman Shaynna Mann (Dickinson, N.D.) enjoyed a strong two days, tying for 11th place with a 166 (82-84).

UND will return to action Oct. 4-5 at the University of Iowa Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City.
