HUNTLEY, Ill.--The Fighting Sioux women's golf team is tied for seventh place after the opening round of the Huskies Classic, hosted by Northern Illinois at the Whisper Creek Golf Club.
Play was suspended due to darkness last night and the opening round was completed this morning.
UND shot a 320 during the first round and is tied with SIU-Edwardsville, with a top-five finish still within range.
Northern Illinois leads the team standings with a school-record 296, while Creighton's Ashley Norris holds the individual lead with an even-par 72.
Sophomores Chivas Beaudoin (Dickinson, N.D.) and Shantel Montgomery (Minot, N.D.) turned in UND's top individual performances. Beaudoin fired a six-over 78 and is tied for 17th place, while Montgomery carded a seven-over 79 and is tied for 20th.
Monday's final round got underway this morning.
