NIPOMO, Calif. - North Dakota shot a final-round 320 today to finish in sixth place at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational at the Monarch Dunes Golf Course.
UND's 320 today was its lowest score of the three-round event. The Sioux finished with a team score of 991.
Cal State Northridge won the tournament with a 916, 12 shots better than runner-up Santa Clara. Kylie Kimura of Cal State Northridge led start to finish and earned medalist honors with a 221 (72-76-73).
Sophomore Chivas Beaudoin (Dickinson, N.D.) was UND's top performer, tying for 15th place with a 239 (76-85-78). Sioux senior Molly Martin (Ramsey, Minn.) owned the team's lowest score of the day, carding a 76 that matched Beaudoin's opening round score as the lowest by any Sioux golfer in the tournament.
UND's Lauryn Job (Sr., Minnetonka, Minn.) and Abby Rueter (Jr., Sartell, Minn.) each tied for 33rd place while Shantel Montgomery (So., Minot, N.D.) placed 41st.
The Sioux return to action next Sunday and Monday at Northern Illinois.
