SEDONA, Ariz. - For the second straight day, senior
Amanda Fairweather was the top North Dakota women's golfer at the spring-opening Red Rocks Invitational on Saturday. The team co-captain carded an 82 (+10) to pace the Green and White after posting an 80 in Friday's opening round.
Juniors
Sadie Martin and
Olivia Knutson both took strokes off from their opening-round scores with rounds of 83 and 84, respectively. For Martin, he second-round score was one stroke better and gave her a 36-hole total of 165 (+21), while Knutson was seven strokes better to finish with a 175 (+31).
Host Northern Arizona toook the team title, holding onto the first-round lead thanks to a tournament-best 297 (+9). Cal Poly held steady to place second, firing a 301 (+13) for the second-straight day.
Grand Canyon's Charlotte Jaengkit and Omaha's Sophie Peters shared medalist honors with even-par scores of 144 during the 36-hole event.
UND was able to improve its team score by five strokes and ended the tournament with a score of 675 (+99). The team will return to action on March 16-17 at the Sacramento Sate Invitational.
