Nine Hawks Post Improvements at Bradley Pink Classic

| By:
PEORIA, Ill. – The North Dakota cross country program ran in the "Red" races at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday afternoon. The UND women finished 19th out of 38 teams in the 6K, finishing with 573 points. The Fighting Hawk men took 12th out of 25 squads in the 8K with 449 points.

Jadyn Keeler has been the top Hawk to cross the finish line in every meet this season, and that did not change Friday, with her leading UND in 74th in a time of 21:48.5. Conny Wohlfahrt was next, finishing 91st with a PR time of 21:56.9. McKenzie Burian was 114th in 22:08.4, while Greta McLagan posted a personal-best time of 22:41.9 to take 174th. Elle Sondag also added a PR, taking 179th in 22:46.6. Brenna Barnick was just outside the top-five finishers for UND and had the biggest personal-best time of the day, improving her previous best by over a minute and a half to take 263rd in 24:00.5.

Luke Labatte has been one of the top two UND runners to cross the finish line in each meet this year and he paced the team Friday, clocking a PR of just under 40 seconds to take 60th with a time of 24:28.8. Nelson Ruto finished 86th in 24:45.4. Patrick Kipkemboi was the third Hawk to finish, taking 105th in a time of 24:57.2. Justin Jelaca was right after Kipkemboi, running a PR time of 24:57.4 to finish 106th. Zach Long ran a PR of 25:20.6 to round out the top-five for UND and crossed the finish line 150th.

Head Coach Tom Scott
"Both teams had an awesome day. The guys averaged sub-25 minutes for the 8K and that's the fastest average in the Summit League era for this team. Luke (Labatte) and Justin (Jelaca) got tripped up early and were behind and moved up the entire way. The women ran a great race as well. With three of our top seven not racing due to illness, our women handled the adversity well, finishing 19th out of 38 schools!"
