Coach Ziegler says: “Jason will be the number one pitcher, going against all the tough opponents, like he did last year. A power pitcher with an overpowering fastball, in the upper 80's. He has been clocked as fast as 92 MPH, last year in Ft. Myers. We’re looking to Jason to provide a lot of that leadership when he's on the mound and also in the dugout and bring some of those intangibles to the field everyday.”
2002: Was the workhorse of the staff, starting nine games and pitching 56.2 innings, both team highs ... Second on the team in strikeouts with 48 ... Went the distance in seven of his nine starts ... Opened season with a tough-luck loss against Southwest State, hurling seven innings, allowing one earned run and fanning a UND season-high 11 batters ... Had back-to-back one-run complete game victories at Minnesota State-Mankato (4-8-02) and at Northern Colorado (4-14-02).
2001: Started seven games ... Was second on staff with 46.2 innings pitched ... Pitched five shutout innings in 13-0 team shutout over Slippery Rock on March 16 ... Allowed just one run in complete game 6-1 win over Augustana on April 29, giving up eight hits and two walks while striking out seven in seven innings.
2000: Pitched in 12 games, 11 in relief ... Tied for team lead in wins, with five ... Threw a seven-inning complete game in his only start ... In that game, a 16-2 win over Minnesota-Crookston on April 24, he allowed just five hits, two earned runs and a walk while striking out six ... Allowed just eight extra-base hits in 118 opponent at bats.
1999: Redshirted.
High School: 1998 graduate of Little Falls High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball, earning two letters in each ... Named All-Central Lakes Conference and honorable mention all-state in football as a senior ... Was a two-time all-conference selection in basketball and baseball (honorable mention as a junior)... Caught four touchdowns in his senior year Homecoming game.
