Biography

One of four team captains ... Transferred to UND from Minnesota-Duluth in 1999.

Coach Ziegler says: “Look for B.J. to move over to second base and fight Travis Koehn for that position.  He is very well respected by his teammates and brings an enormous amount of baseball knowledge to the field. He’s one of those guys who basically keeps the team together.  Looking for B.J. to bring that leadership and leadership qualities to our program.”

2002: Started six games and played in 10 total games ... Started season-opener against Indianapolis, hitting a homerun and scored two runs ... Reached base safely in six of first seven games ... Ended season with 2-for-2 outing in 13-0 win over Minnesota-Crookston.

2001: Saw action in 13 games, starting nine ... Posted solid .308 batting average in thos e games ... Was 3-4 with four RBIs against Minnesota-Crookston on April 1.

2000: Played in 35 games, starting 34 ... Hit .219 for the season ... Finished year with four hits in final 13 at bats (.308) ... Had four multiple-hit games ... Got two hits in UND debut on March 14 vs. Davis & Elkins.

High School: 1997 graduate of Hibbing High School ... Lettered four years in baseball and three years in both hockey and football ... All-Iron Range Conference performer in baseball and also participated in Lions All-Star game.

Personal: Born 11-7-78 ... Son of Bruce and Corrine Willis ... Brother of UND sophomore infielder Brad Willis ... Majoring in physical education and exercise science and minoring in coaching.
