Coach Ziegler says: “Mark comes into this season as the starting leftfielder for the third season. Mark brings an unbelievable bat to our lineup. Mark is a streak hitter and when he gets hot, there's no one better. We need Mark to be more consistant, for us to have a strong offensive year. We're looking for Mark to have a super year.”
2002: Played in all 37 games for UND ... Third on the team in total bases and tied for fourth hits while leading the team with 10 doubles and 19 walks ... Was a triple shy of the cycle going 3-for-4 and driving-in four runs against Southwest State (3-10-02) ... Homered twice, racking-up four hits and seven RBI at Minnesota-Crookston (4-4-02) ... Hit .529 (9-for-17) during five-game hit streak (4-9-02 to 4-14-02).
2001: Played in 32 games, starting 30 ... Third on team in hitting (.376) and slugging (.574) ... Had 12 multiple-hit games ... Hit .448 (13-29) during eight-game hitting streak from April 24-30 ... Was 3-3 with two home runs and five RBIs in 15-2 win over Minnesota-Crookston on April 24, was also hit by pitch twice in that game ... Had career-best four hits against Minnesota-Crookston on March 31.
2000: Played in 22 games, starting 12 ... Hit home run in UND debut, a 10-3 loss to Northern Iowa on Feb. 29 ... Had three multi-hit games.
High School: A four-year letterwinner in football, basketball and baseball at Plummer High School ... Earned all-state and academic all-state in both sports as a senior ... Batted .411 with team-high four home runs ... Also led the team in runs (28) and RBIs (26) ... Posted a 5-0 record with a 1.91 ERA as a pitcher ... Struck out 49 batters in 33 innings ...
